Make Your Own Bumblebee Wedding Soap Favors – 3 Styles
Posted by Kelly - Soap Artist on Nov 15th 2021
Creating your own favors is a great way to express your artistic side and save a little money in the process. The best part is you will have so much fun and be providing your guest with a gift from the heart.
Depending on your wedding style you may want to consider:
- White Background with Calendula Petals
- White Background with Ground Oatmeal
- Clear Background with Calendula Petals
You may have some of the following supplies, if not I have provided links below.
Supplies:
Bumblebee mold
Glycerin soap
Calendula petals
Oatmeal
Gold mica
Container to melt your soap
Pipette
Spray bottle
Rubbing Alcohol
Mixing Stick
Knife
Fragrance Oil
Organza Bags
Making your favors:
You will need a microwave, scale, a cutting board, measuring spoons, and the supplies listed above.
The bee soap will be made in two parts.
Part 1:
- Cut up your clear soap into one-inch cubes
- Place your soap into the glass measuring cup
- Use the microwave on low power in 10 second bursts until your soap is melted
- Add 1/16 tsp (the size of a pea) of gold mica and stir until mixed well
- Place your mold on a flat surface and spay rubbing alcohol liberally into the mold
- Using the 2mL pipette, fill the bee and relief edges of the mold with the gold mica, if your soap become too thick you can reheat it gently in the microwave
- Once your entire mold is filled with the gold soap you can move to the next step
Part 2:
- Using the clear or white soap cut up approximately 10 ounces of your soap base and melt is as above.
- Once melted you can add your calendula petals or colloidal oatmeal. For the calendula petals I add a large pinch, for the colloidal oatmeal I add 1 to 2 tablespoons depending on the look I want
- Add ½ ounce of your fragrance oil and still well. If your soap is becoming too thick you can heat it gently.
- Thoroughly spray the gold relief in the mold with rubbing alcohol
- Using a pipette fill each cavity with the soap, if your tip is not allowing enough soap to come through cut off the tip to make a large opening
- Allow your soap to harden for a few hours to overnight
- Remove your soap from the mold and voila! You now have your soap ready to wrap
Finishing touches for your soap:
I like using the 2 x 3 inch organza bags to display these beautiful soaps. You could use any other type of packaging.
I hope you enjoyed making your bee favors. Looking for a large volume and don’t have the time to make your own favors? You can find them in my shop. I offer many different fragrance oils for you to pick just the right one.
